This part of the state is a happening place, and not just for the locals. Northwest Arkansas once again welcomed politicians, celebrities and world-renowned artists to the area, making 2014 one of the most star-stuffed years yet.

Former President George W. Bush popped into a Bentonville ice cream shop the morning before his scheduled book signing at the Bentonville Walmart Supercenter on Walton Boulevard. The charismatic leader was in town to promote his book “41: A Portrait of My Father,” a biography of George H.W. Bush.

Another well-known former president stirred up the masses throughout Arkansas in November.

Bill Clinton stopped by his home state to celebrate the 10th birthday of the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock. He took the opportunity to hit the campaign trail with the now-ousted U.S. Sen. Mark Pryor before speaking in Fort Smith and Fayetteville. He also reportedly enjoyed a burger at a favorite Fayetteville eatery, Hugo’s, before leaving the area. Although she joined him in Little Rock, Hilary Clinton was quick to return to Washington, D.C., after the event.

Also a fan of Hugo’s? Ron White and his wife, singer Margo Rey, were in town on a stop for their nationwide tour when they reportedly stopped in for a local treat.

Diners at Tokyo Sushi and Bar in Fayetteville may have gotten a bit of a surprise recently when Aaron Carter and Lorde made an appearance at the trendy eatery. The pair reportedly flirted throughout dinner but tried to maintain a low profile when leaving.

Once again, this summer’s Walmart Shareholders Meeting welcomed some of the most popular stars to Northwest Arkansas.

Mega-stud Harry Connick Jr. served as emcee for the event, warming hearts with his crooked smile and pearly whites. Not to be outdone by the show’s musical guests, Connick crooned out some of his favorite melodies, eliciting a standing ovation from the audience.

If shareholders at this year’s meeting were already feeling jovial, they certainly were once “Happy” singer Pharrell Williams took the stage. The popular singer and television host joined forces with a newly single Robin Thicke at this year’s event, blurring the lines between entertainment and commerce once again.

Also on stage was Sarah McLachlan. The soulful Canadian singer-songwriter serenaded the excited crowd while promoting Walmart charitable giving.

Many more celebrities graced Northwest Arkansas with their presence in 2014, but only one seldom-seen superstar truly had our tongues wagging.

Big Foot was once again caught on film, trudging about in the Ozarks. The footage was sent into a regional television show but is yet to air. It’s the second time in two years the mythical beast has been reported in Arkansas. Perhaps 2015 is the year he’ll stick around long enough for an interview.

Also expected in 2015: A new Duggar. Jill Duggar Dillard is expecting her first child with her husband Derick Dillard in the spring.

Northwest Arkansas continues to be a hotbed for celebrity sightings. One can only imagine what (and who) 2015 will bring!
